Clear Spring Scuba Park
Terrell, Texas
By Larry Harvey
If you have a chance to go to Terrell with your dive equipment, I can recommend the Clear Springs Scuba Park. I left a copy of their data sheet at the store for you to review. The facility was very clean and organized. They have a small store and deli in one building and the tank refill station in another. Several easy water entry points - some rock, some wood decks, and a floating barge. Picnic arbors and tables all along the shore. There are several platforms in the twenty foot depth throughout the lake. The lake is about 1900 feet long by 400 feet across, a perfect place to take a class, refresh your skills, or just enjoy diving. Water depth does not exceed 63 feet. The visibility was about 40 feet. There are a lot of fish and turtles to see. I had a large bass getting friendly with me - Nathan thinks it was sizing me up for its lunch! Nathan and I had a first. We entered a sunken American Airlines plane which sits in 30 feet of water. I will never look at the inside of a plane quite the same again. Nathan and I were setting in the passenger seats watching fish swim by, waiting for the airline steward to bring us a drink. We absolutely felt totally safe, the park has been well prepared with safety in mind. We were both sad when it was time to leave. We will definitely do that again.
